Custom Pumping Equipment used for a 2 Mile Long Natural Gas Delivery Pipeline
The fluid handling experts at Fischer-Bush Equipment Company were asked to design and fabricate a two-mile long natural gas pipeline delivery system for one of their gas market customers. Having been responding to difficult requests like this for half a century, Fischer-Bush immediately deployed their fabrication team of designers, mechanics, and welders. The customer’s specifications called for the delivery of a substantial volume of natural gas-1,680 gallons per minute-over the course of two miles. Fischer’s skilled team immediately knew that to deliver this amount of natural gas over that distance would require more than a single pump to maintain the requested volume. Three pumps were used on the delivery line, 10,500’ away from the source of the natural gas. The first pump was located at the source; the second pump was placed 3,000’ away from the source, and the third was put in place 6,000’ away from the source. All three of these pumps were 10" X 8" vacuum assist pumps, whose sequencing generated sufficient pressure to deliver the required flow through poly line pipe only 4" in diameter.
